The shin pain that’s been bothering me all week was the whole reason I picked up the Zoom Fly 6, so I kept today easy on purpose — no watching the pace, just seeing how the legs felt. First few hundred meters felt stiff like always, but by the time I looped past Bislett Stadion it had mostly faded into the background, which is more than I can say for the last few runs.

Nothing dramatic to report, which honestly might be the best outcome. Sticking to Zone 2 today, no 4x4 nonsense until the shins fully settle down.

This was a moderate effort run. I focused on keeping my heart rate controlled, spending most of the time in Zone 2 and Zone 3 while completely staying out of the higher zones, as I am trying to follow my training plan I kept a smooth 5’10” pace, and my recovery felt great, dropping from 141 bpm right down to 104 bpm within two minutes of finishing.

I also tried listening to a podcast to see if it kept my mind off the laps, and it kinda worked. I am definitely going to try it again on the next run.

It was a really tough, but I fought my way through it and it felt great to get it done, i really have to remember that feeling. I don’t have a selfie or photo for this sesh. I need to start remembering that.

The awesome part was the time I spent in the demanding zones. If you add up Zone 4 (10:02) and Zone 5 (05:40), I had over 15 and a half minutes of hard heart pumping. I completely smashed the main goal of 14 plus minutes of effective work! It was also great to see my progressive heart rate. It climbed exactly like it should for each interval: 154, 162, 165, and finally 169. I pushed the body gradually more, and the heart responded perfectly.

However, from my training plan, I should not push myself into Zone 5. This time I ran at 14.5 km/h on the treadmill, so next time I am going to try 14.2 km/h with a little incline instead. I want to increase my VO2 max, so letting the heart fill completely with blood between beats is what we want to expand heart volume1. Andrew Huberman recommends this.

I also jogged too fast in my breaks, so I am going to go down to 8 km/h to get my heart rate down to 120-130 bpm before the next push.

Yesterday’s run was one of those heavy days where every kilometer felt like a battle. Legs were off from the start and the sting in the stomach followed me through the whole run but I pushed through and fought my way to the end.

I also would have got a personal best but I thought I’d passed the 10K mark when I stopped the watch, but after syncing it recalculated and shaved off almost 300 meters. Landed at 9.99 km. Rookie mistake stopping right on the line without a buffer. So I consider that a PB for my 10km.

I love that I pushed through and it felt so good when I finished I have to remember that feeling til the next time things feel heavy.

Waking up before the rest of Oslo felt a little bit strange but I had to work in the afternoon and evening today so I had to run before my coffee. The streets were completely empty except from 3-4 for other crazy running people like me. There is something special about having the whole city to ourself while everyone else is still sleeping.

My legs were a bit heavy for the first couple of kilometers, but once I got into a steady rhythm, it felt great. Running at dawn just hits different. By the time the sky started lightened up, I was already well into the groove and the rest of the day felt great!

I won’t do it everyday but now I know it is an option and it works for me.

I needed to clear my head after work yesterday afternoon, so I headed out for a run on my way home. I decided to run around Nordre Gravlund, which honestly makes for a completely perfect running spot. It’s peaceful and such a great way to transition from a stressful day to a calm evening.

I have really found my thing and I totally understand why it’s become so popular to run. Next week I am following my training plan but in two weeks I will try to set a personal best on 10km.

I headed out for an early morning 10k run today. The air was fresh, my legs felt light, and I managed to lock into a comfortable rhythm right from the start.

Around the halfway mark the “runner’s high” kicked in. My breathing settled, the effort felt effortless, and I had that clear, euphoric feeling where you feel like you could keep running forever. Even the music felt really nice. That momentum gave me an extra burst of energy toward the end, allowing me to pick up the pace over the final two kilometers and finish strong. Still not gone full speed for the 10km but getting close to trying.

I went for a 10k run at Bislett Stadion today. Having such a cool arena right in the neighborhood is incredible. It makes it so easy to head out and get a proper workout in.

I kept a steady pace for most of the laps and felt good enough toward the end to push the tempo and finish strong. Finishing 10 kilometers around the track definitely gives a great boost for the upcoming training.

I am finding this running thing helping me both mentally and physically. It’s fun to see progress as well. Can’t wait for the next run club.
